Morning Hatchling Release
Wake up to the sounds of nature. Visit the conservation hatchery and experience the joy of releasing baby turtles (hatchlings) into the ocean before we journey back to civilization.
More Than Just a Tour. A Mission.
Sukamade Beach is one of the most important nesting sites for sea turtles in Southeast Asia. Green Turtles, Leatherbacks, Olive Ridleys, and Hawksbills have returned to these shores for thousands of years.
By choosing a professional eco-tour, you are doing more than just sightseeing. The permits and fees included in your package directly fund the anti-poaching patrols and the incubation facilities that protect thousands of eggs each year.

Limited Availability for Conservation Purposes
To protect the natural habitat, Meru Betiri National Park limits the number of daily visitors. Our private Jeeps and expert guides book out quickly, especially during peak turtle nesting seasons. Secure your date now.
While Sukamade has an almost 100% nightly arrival rate for turtles, they are wild animals. Nature cannot be guaranteed. However, our expert rangers know the signs and patterns to give you the absolute highest chance possible of witnessing this event.
Yes. Our 4x4 Jeeps are rigorously maintained, and our local drivers have years of experience navigating the rugged Meru Betiri terrain and river crossings. The journey is bumpy and adventurous, but your safety is our top priority.
The Sukamade guesthouse is basic but clean. It is a remote jungle lodge. You will have a private room and a bed. Electricity runs on a generator and is typically turned off around midnight. It's part of the authentic jungle experience!
Bring dark, comfortable clothing (bright colors distract turtles), a light jacket, insect repellent, personal medication, toiletries, a power bank, and a camera (flash photography is strictly prohibited during the nesting).
Yes, children can join! It is a wonderful educational experience. However, keep in mind the 4x4 ride is quite bumpy and the night tracking requires quietness and walking in the dark. We recommend it for children above 6 years old.
Turtles come to Sukamade year-round. However, the peak nesting season is typically between November and March. Regardless of the month, the chances of seeing turtles are incredibly high compared to other locations in the world.
You can book by contacting us via WhatsApp. We typically require a small deposit to secure the Jeep and permits, with the balance payable in cash (IDR) upon pick-up.
We provide free pick-up from any hotel, train station, or the Ketapang ferry harbor in the Banyuwangi city area. Pick-up is usually scheduled around 9:00 AM.
